Gift Guide : Valentine’s Favorites for Kids

I know, I know. Some would call Valentine’s Day a Hallmark holiday, and I do agree that we should be spreading love more than one day a year! For me though, it's another opportunity to sprinkle a bit of fun and joy on our little dude's world! While Jeff and I might use it as an excuse to dive into the chocolate (and maybe pop some bubbly), for Alex, it's all about feeling some extra-special love from Mom and Dad.

In that spirit, here’s what I’m adding-to-cart this Valentine’s Day: This Minecraft kit (no-brainer), these Valentine’s bath bombs surprises (always a hit), and the sweetest book about a poorly-behaved but unconditionally-loved pug, “I Will Love You Anyway”. And oh, the Squishmallow debate! Fancy pickle, or the irresistible axolotl? Tough choices, right?

Curious about our tried-and-true gifts? Silly Scent markers, Plus Plus kits (great for travel!), and Highlights Hidden Puzzle books. Also, “I Love You Stinky Face”, which is my all-time favorite kid’s book, all about a mother’s unconditional love for her child (sensing a theme there?). And finally, the perennial classic, Candy Land. Alex still asks to play it with us at almost 7!

You may notice there’s a gift-that-doubles-as-an-activity theme here, which in my opinion, is the best kind of gift! The exceptions are two things that are almost always a hit with kids: anything glow-in-the-dark or neon. After all, it's all about making those little hearts light up! Who needs Cupid when you've got a parent on a mission to spread love through thoughtful surprises? Happy Valentine’s!
