Cyber Monday Gift Guide : Preschool to Five
Super Ultimate Garage: Okay, I’m not gonna lie, I don’t love our Ultimate Garage sitting in the middle of our living room, but it was SUCH a good Santa gift for Alex when he was three. It still gets frequent use today and is especially a hit during play dates. If you have the room (and the ability to turn a blind eye - ha!), this is a great “big” present!
30-Piece Doctor Kit: A great present to give on the younger side, as it will definitely stand the test of time! Ours still gets frequent use and was instrumental in calming the nerves of an anxious doctor’s office goer.
Learning Resources Cash Register: A perennial favorite! This is another long-used toy in our house. Great for teaching about money and math, and for playing store or restaurant. If you buy a play kitchen this year, this is a great addition!
Barbie Dream House: The four-year-old me wants this so badly! If you have a Barbie-lover in your house, this is an absolute dream for a “big” gift this year.
Mr. Sketch Scented Markers: Ah, nostalgia! We bought these for Alex last year and they were a hit! We talk about our favorite scents, draw pictures of the items the scents represent, and sort them according to our favorites. Hours of imaginative fun! Watch out for marker on your nose though…
Wooden Sensory Table: A great deal for a look-a-like to the perpetually sold-out Ikea one! Aesthetically pleasing (parents rejoice!), and a starting place for so many fun activities. This makes a great “big” present and can be complemented with the sensory bin toys below, or with sensory staples such as rice, pom-poms, kinetic sand (less messy than regular sand), and an assortment of little creatures (all on sale!).
Fire Tablet: While my focus is generally on non-screen toys that spark creativity and imagination, sometimes you need a sure thing. This has been a lifesaver for us on airplanes and TBH sometimes at the occasional brunch where we just want to enjoy our food and most likely, our mimosa! #realtalk
Marble Run: “Run” to buy this before it sells out! Ha! But really, this is another hit in our household that has provided hours of fun over the years. Great for solo play but also very entertaining for adults! It encourages problem-solving and teaches STEAM concepts such as mechanics and working with gravity.
Tool Set: As an avid DIY’er I love tool sets like this! We gifted ours at a young age, and Alex used to follow me around the house with his tools whenever I was doing home improvement projects. I love the included toolbox for containing the clutter!
Sensory Bin Toys: A perfect complement to the sensory table above, or, just add a plastic storage bin with some of the sensory staples mentioned and you’re all set for hours of fun!
