Easy Entertaining : DIY Trader Joe’s Holiday Bouquet
I recently did some holiday arrangements for a client that were so quick and easy, yet made such a big impact, that I wanted to share! Those few weeks I took of flower arranging in college (until it cramped my Thursday night plans) really paid off - ha! But really, anyone can do this if you just follow a few simple guidelines. Take a look at the video and the simple instructions below and your place will be looking like a winter wonderland in no time!
What you’ll need:
Evergreen branches (I use the Mixed Evergreen Swag from TJ’s and just take off the bow and unwrap the wire holding it together)
Magnolia Leaf Branches
Red Ilex Winterberry branches
Eucalyptus bunch (the floppy kind)
Additional winter greens of different textures
What to do:
Start with a clean vase and fill partway with water
Begin with the biggest thing first - in this case the evergreen branches and magnolia leaves. These will be the tallest items in your vase, but you’ll still want to cut them at varying heights. Make sure to turn your vase as you go, the goal is for the arrangement to look good from all angles!
Add “space fillers” like the floppy eucalyptus and the spikey winter greens for a lush look. Again, make sure you are cutting them at varying heights. You’ll want some drapey pieces to be hanging over the side of the vase for that effortless charm. Keep turning to make sure there’s not just one “good side”!
Fill in with the more expensive statement pieces, in this case, the berries. A sprig here and there is all you’ll need, just make sure to spread it throughout and not just in one big clump!
Turn and adjust until it feels just right! Remember there are no strict rules, just guidelines, so feel free to let your creativity bloom!
Quick note: Holly berries are cute but keep them away from tiny hands and curious pets – safety first, festive flair second!
